SPRinT Run another successful leadership course

Leadership is vitally important managing a team during clinical emergencies, but such leadership skills are not often formally taught or practiced. At SPRinT we identified a need for formal training in this area and so last year SPRinT director Margarita Burmester set up our Clinical Emergencies Leadership Course, a unique course within the UK which includes teaching in leadership styles, human factors and crisis management of a clinical team. All participants lead a simulated clinical emergency and gain personalised feedback.

The third Clinical Emergencies Leadership Course was held on June 2019, supported by funding from Health Education England. 13 participants including doctors and nurses from across the country came together to improved their leadership skills.

Course feedback was an “excellent” and “very enjoyable, fun and informative day”.

“Thank you, good mix of scenarios in supportive environment”.

“Very useful course to improve fluency with non clinical skills, especially leadership + followership in clinical emergencies. The groups were of the perfect size for this course”

“This course is SO GOOD, it really helped.”

There are 4 Clinical Emergencies Leadership courses a year  and free spaces available. Nurses and doctors are welcome to learn about how to improve their leadership skills. If you are interested please see the Course page  for details or emailsprint@rbht.nhs.uk  to apply.
