PICU Senior Staff Nurse & Advanced Nurse Practitioner Trainee, Royal Brompton Hospital
Helena completed her Nursing degree in Portugal and worked in Neonatal Intensive Care and Paediatric A&E for 6 years, where she competed a Masters degree (MsC) in Paediatric Nursing. She moved to London in 2010 and started working on the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Royal Brompton, with an ongoing interest in education and simulation training. Currently training as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (MSc) in this Unit, Helena is responsible for several quality improvement projects and continues to be involved in interprofessional team training.
Since 2013 as a faculty member in the SPRinT team, she has developed and facilitated education programmes that include high fidelity clinical simulation and workshops with an emphasis on human factors and crisis resource management.
She has been invited to present her work at the several national and international conferences with emphasis on simulation training in healthcare, such as Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare (ASPIH) and the International Pediatric Simulation Symposia and Workshops (IPSSW).
